Inspired by the Body & Mind Connection

Kristen Beck writes:

I just wanted to let you know how inspired I am by your approach.

I have a B.A. in Natural Science (focused on biology, ecology, and elementary education) and am now working on my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling to become an LPC. Meanwhile, I’ve been trying to improve my health and lose weight and learned that much of physical fitness requires mental fitness and vice versa. It has irritated me that my professionals in healthcare neglect this mind-body link.

I kept thinking that there must be a way to professionally combine mental health and physical health through lifestyle modification training to help people improve their overall wellness, so I’m also working toward getting my personal trainer certification from the ACSM. Ultimately I’d like to get my doctorate in clinical health psychology. This is something I’m very passionate about, but I’ve been having difficulty finding anyone in my area who understands how to combine these fields, and I often get confused stares when I tell people how I’d like to do this.

I started thinking that I must be the only one who sees a need for professionals to offer both mental and physical health services. I decided to Google “health psychology and personal trainer” and found you. I’m so happy I did. Seeing your site was a exactly the motivation I needed today. It’s so nice to see that I’m on the right path because clearly you have been successful on yours.

I will definitely be following your blog and articles to learn from you.

Thanks!
